Happy 2006 Anjlart/The Now Friends and Family,
I hope you love this background photo as much as I do. It was taken on the first day of this year by Patrick
Martin (photographer) at Jalama Beach on the central coast. It was this day, this picture and Patrick that
inspired my newest painting, "Storm" that you can view on the front page of my website. I loved the rainbow
over the stormy ocean so very much.
If you haven't heard by now, I did a pretty major flooring job in my house just recently. The best part about it
is that it makes my whole home feel like a gallery and art studio. My old studio has been rearranged so that I
face out of the large window out to the lavender garden, birch tree and fountain.
On this particular day as I painted the
sky was amazingly dramatic. Patrick had sent
me these photos while "Storm" was in progress.
"Storm" is an oil on a small (for me) 8 x10 inch canvas. It feels so soft to look at yet with a deep wisdom of
truth and connection to the earth. I hope you enjoy it and this wonderful photo by Patrick. (Thank You sweet
man)
So what does this new year bring you?
I can tell you that my heart is very happy. Firstly my home feels like a place I have always wanted to live.
Clearing out the old and laying new wood flooring has been quite the process of grounding for what seems to
be a very deep well of creativity. As I walk across the floor I feel like dancing...and trust me...I do, often. The
give of the floor gives my stroll around the house a bounce and a giggle to be home. Ahhh! My home a safe
place to create.
And creating is exactly what is happening.
Lewis and I have been writing new originals like crazy.
I'm talking about 2 or 3 a day!!!
They just keep coming and don't seem to want to stop. We had talked about our next move being to do some
recording since people were asking for CD's at our gigs. Then we realized that we would have to write some
original tunes to do so.The next thing I knew we were mailing lyrics back and forth to each other like ships
passing in a very busy harbor. Our lyrics were playing a game of call and response and like my paintings
they seem to have a voice of their own.
You will have to come out to our gigs to hear this body of art music. And you can do so at our new regularly
scheduled gigs. The second Saturday you can find us at Coffee Etc. in Springville CA from 12-3pm. This is
a great little coffee house that serves the most incredible food. My favorite the Three Cheese Panini (grilled
sandwich with artichoke hearts on an olive sourdough bread...to die for. But you have to have it with one of
Dennis' homemade soups or famous chile) While in Springville make sure to go to Corey's shop "A Novel
Idea" where you can purchase Anjlart paintings, prints and cards. It's a great little shop that has books and
some wonderful gifts from Napal. This is a great little day trip that will surly help renew your spirit.
Other standing gigs are the 4th Saturday of the month at Starbucks from 4-6 pm at the Gosford Village (just
south of District) and the 4th Sunday at The Village Grill on F St. in B-town from 10-1 for brunch. This is our
favorite breakfast spot of all times and it has become like our second home. You can always find us there
Sunday morning for breakfast. It's like the place where everybody knows our name. (Watch for the new
sitcom. :-)
I also want to bring your attention to the sketches that my very own talented sister Mary Damigos (Artist) did
of Lewis and I at my wonderful birthday gig in Springville this month. You can see these on The Now page.
Isn't she cool?
So, there you have it for January...
I wish you all wellness and readiness for this bright new year of clarity and simplicity.
I'd love to hear from you...or better yet see you soon at one of The Now's regular gigs.
Namaste,
Angeline
