Happy August Anjlart Friends,

Time seems to be speeding up these days for me.  I hope you all able to breathe well and stay in the
moment as much as possible.  With that said, I won’t even mention the “Back to S*****” thing for fear of
losing one more minute of this glorious Summer Vacation. It’s been absolutely wonderful and so very
transforming in so many ways.  I am still riding my
Miraval wave with a new practice of meditation,
Abyanga, enhanced yoga and mostly Awareness.  What gifts these enhanced practices have been in
finding a pathway peace beyond my wildest imaginings.

As I write my web builder is downloading some changes to my website.  The one I am most excited to
share with you is my latest painting…

Becoming One is a wonderful piece that is a gift to Liz and Josh Ochoa who were married in May.  Early
in the Summer we met for breakfast for me to get a sense of their new life together.  They shared their
beautiful wedding photos with me as we chatted and images and colors began to dance all around.  I
couldn’t wait to get started, and as I painted, my heart was deeply touched by the experience happening on
the canvas.

Josh is a wonderful soul who is tall with dark warm eyes.  He is centered and calm and feels like a
grounding source for Liz.  Josh said he liked the more edgy elements in my work, where as Liz who is soft
and bubbly is drawn to the softer and more fluid moments.  It took some time for me get the idea started,
but once mapped out…it flowed quite naturally.  Since this piece has a lot of detail for a smaller 16 x 20
canvas…I was surprised how tedious some of the sections took.

The result is a familiar fluid background with alternating sections of black and white which make the
sections of colors dance and float.  Then there are two rectangle boxes; one representing Josh and the
other representing Liz’s energy.  The most powerful moment is where the two rectangles form a union in
the center and that is where the colors became very rich and the shapes began to fit like a puzzle.

The concepts and thoughts that came to me while doing this piece were beautiful.  It was as if I could feel
the energy of their hearts merging into the…Becoming of One.  Enjoy!

The other exciting news is that I have now spent four days in the recording studio working on my first CD.
Oh my! What a learning experience this continues to be for me.  I feel like I am floating when I leave the
studio…driving home and listening to updates of each session.  I don’t want to give too much away at this
time, but let me just say the layers of sound for each song have taken on a life of their own.  I wish I could
say I am always eager and ready to show up for the work but for some odd  reason…like when I begin a
painting… the first few stages tend to douse me in fear.  What is that?  Fear of the unknown…that I don’t
know what I am doing…it’s more like something bigger and more powerful is happening for which I am just
the vehicle.  All I know is that if I hadn’t ever practiced the principles from
The Artist’s Way course I would
have given up a long time ago.  But instead…I have learned to identify the “fear,” honor it, and then show up
with a willingness to see what will happen next.

This is parallel to my closest understandings of such concepts as
Love or God.  Like Suzi reminded me
the other night at dinner…just leap and the net will appear!  I always feel like this work is so much bigger
than what I am capable of.

(I also have this experience when people who live very far away purchase my work from my website!)

Speaking of
The Artist’s Way principles….

“When the archer shoots for no particular prize, he has all his skills; when he shoots to win a
brass buckle, he is already nervous; when he shoots for a gold prize, he goes blind, sees two
targets, and is out of his mind. His skill has not changed, but his prize divides him.  He cares!  He
thinks more of winning than of shooting, and the need to win drains him of power.”
